Our Story

Murilo and Madalena connected over their shared love and passion for Brazilian music from the early 1960s.

Murilo began his musical journey in Brazil as a popular guitarist, primarily specialising in MPB, Samba, and Bossa Nova styles. In 2003, he moved to Australia to pursue his classical studies. He studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, graduating with First Class Honours as a scholarship recipient. Career highlights include featured appearances at major events such as the Sydney Festival and performances at renowned venues including the Sydney Opera House, City Recital Hall and Sydney Town Hall. His touring has taken him across the US, Brazil, Europe, South Korea and throughout regional Australia, covering five states and over 60 different cities.

Madalena has also graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, with a background in classical singing. She then performed in a pop duo around Sydney. She also wrote and performed her own music, and has toured Sydney, Melbourne and Byron. Over the last six months, she reconnected with her love of bossa nova and the Portuguese language and studied artists like Elis Regina, Gal Costa and Astrud Gilberto, and dove back into singing the bossa classics she used to listen to as a teenager.
